Quiquito

A few weeks ago, I went over to Mati and Bob's house
to visit and of course to see this little guy, their nephew.

I was just as sleepy as this chunky giraffe.

Sorry the video is so dark but it was with the my camera and not a video camera.

Since Bocelli...

Wow...it's been a while since I've blogged. I've been asked about blogging by a few people and some that just want to take me off their blogs since I haven't written anything. Just thought i'd write a few things... my not be interesting but ni modo...hay les va.

Since Bocelli's concert i have...
  1. Made a couple of Rangers games.
  2. Had surgery
  3. Participated in Goddaughter's quinceñera.
  4. Became "Tia Pita" twice to children that aren't even related to me.
  5. Had a wisdom tooth extracted and later 2 minor cavities filled for the first time.
  6. Sang to every song at Ricardo Arjona concert without alcohol.
  7. I've enjoyed a Vicente Fernandez concert for the 6th time.
  8. Went to see La 5a Estacion with my awesome prima Carmen.
  9. Sponsored a friend's daughter in the sacrament of Confirmation.
  10. Said "yes" to teaching an adult ESL class at night.
  11. Have a class of 14 really observant OR nosey children. They pay attention to everything but not always their school work. They are hilarious...have a wonderful time with this group of kiddos.

andrea bocelli

My mom right before the concert. This concert was one of six
concerts in his Incanto Tour in the United States.

He was an "Incanto"!

Heather Headley singing The Prayer

Besame Mucho

What a beautiful voice!! Like my mom said, "this was a once in a life time concert"! She loved every minute of it. What an amazing voice! I never thought of going to one of his concerts but when I heard he was coming to Dallas for the first time, I just had to get tickets for my mom! For over 13 years or so she had really become a big fan. Despite completely loosing his sight as an early age, the Lord has blessed Andrea with a magnificent voice. I do have to say that now that I've been to his concert, I appreciate even more this musical talent. Most of his songs were in Italian of course but I understood bits and pieces. My mom mention that some of his pieces were Pavarotti's operas.

1st communion

St. Matthew's Catholic Church

Jose, Lauro, & Luis

The last week of the school I received a note from parent inviting me to her child's First Communion. Jose had mention several times he was going to make his first communion. I can see how he was excited as he talked about his preparation classes. I'm always honored to be invited to any church service, religious celebration because I know it means a lot to the children.

It just so happens that the boy in the middle, Lauro, use to go to our school and was in my summer school class a couple years ago.

Holy Spirit Catholic Church

What better time to post pictures of the church I attend than today, the feast day of the Holy Spirit, Pentecost Sunday. The feast of the universal church commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. Not only is it the parish feast day but also this year in June will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of this building. Yes I know the people are the ones that make the church and not the building. I still feel that the building is a special and sacred place of worship.

Alter tablecloth has all the names of each family registered at Holy Spirit.

This prayer book has a list of the military families. One of the families that are included in the prayer book is Rogers Family. Thanks Uncle Kevin for all you do in making the military a career to serve our country. God bless also Tomas Acevedo and Uncle Levie Roland and their families.

Baby Shower

My dear friend Isabel had a baby shower this Saturday, given to her my mom and their church friends. Mati and I decided to make it a quick trip to Gainesville to join in the good food, I mean... to join in the fun. These pictures were taken after the shower.

Sisters...Isabel and Mati

Check out Isabel's reaction when a little girl grabs my
camera without asking and takes the picture!

Samuel
A rather friendly little kid...right away called me
by name as if he had known me for years.

Tia Mati talking to her nephew LEG!

The Ballpark

What a beautiful day for baseball! Wonderful weather! Couldn't have asked for better weather. Well, the only down fall was that the Rangers lost the game against the darn Yankees 9-2 AND I didn't eat a hot dog ...I wasn't hungry since we had eaten before the game.

Yankee D. Jeter and Ranger C. Davis

Watching the game...

Or...checking my phone.
I guess that is why my phone shut down in about the 6th inning. Actually, I forgot to charge it last night. I wasn't using it the whole game.

All Zermes!!!
My dad looks like he's had a few beers but he
doesn't even drink...he was tired from a long day's work.
Can't say the same for the there ones...they were enjoying the music.

Carina y Rolando

Carina, Fr. Oscar, Rolando

Rolando and Carina visited us from Nebraska this past April. We had a wonderful time although their trip was too short. They only had a few days to visit some of the family in Texas. Fr. Oscar was kind enough to wait on them to ride back to Nebraska. Fr. Oscar, who is from Venezuela, is a close friend of theirs and is the pastor of the parish they attend. I'm proud to say that Rolando and Carina are very active in the church...every time I call they are coming from or going to church. They both sing in the choir in different masses throughout the weekend.

I'm not sure if I had mention Rolando in my blog before but he's my cousin from my dad's side of the family. We are only days apart in age, of course he's the older one. He is a wonderful guy that I'm happy to call him the brother I never had. Though the distance, we have kept in touch ever since I can remember.

NASCAR

There was a concert before the race.

Who would have thought I would have gone to a NASCAR race? This back on April 5th. A few months ago Antonio invited me. He's a big fan of NASCAR. I was feeling a little under the weather but I still wanted to experience my first race. Despite my, i had a good time. I could really talk to him since it was sooo LOUD! I did go prepared...I bought ear plugs!

More NASCAR pictures...

The leader board.
After awhile, i felt like a cat chasing a mouse around and around with my eyes/head. Don't know if I got a headache from that or the noise. Haha!

It's amazing how fast the pit crew is...10 seconds or less!

Juan Pablo Montoya of Colombia the only latino driver in NASCAR.
Don't quote me on that!

Fans

The winner is...JEFF GORDON!
The one we were going for! I'm not a NASCAR fan but he was one of the 3 racers I actually knew.
#24 (I like this number!)

Visiting...

Paco & Paquito a little to serious

Esme, Paco, & Paquito

Paquito didn't like Bugs Bunny, can you tell?

I know this is a little late but thought I would blog anyway. The last weekend of spring break Esme and her family came to visit from Amarillo. Paquito of course, had a wonderful time at Six Flags. Unlike his madrina, he's a little dare devil...he loved every ride. He would have gotten on the Superman ride if he was tall enough.

Fun at Six Flags

He loved it!

Love his smile!
