Now, this is JG's doing! He took the picture and decided to put this on page.

Rumors

A few weeks back, around early January, Diana-who lives in Virginia, called and left a voicemail and a text for me to get back to her as soon as possible.  In her voicemail, she had mention that Mrs. H had called her and told her that I was in very serious accident and if D had heard about it. Which by the way, I haven't even seen Mrs. H since, who knows when?! Her son was in my class 2 1/2 years ago but they moved early on in the school year.  They apparently moved back to CH. Anyway, I don't know how she would have known I was in an accident. (You guys do recall I was in an accident in May but fortunately I was not hurt.)

Today, I found out that I DIED!! Yeah, kind of crazy right?  I assume because of the 'accident' I had a few weeks ago!?  How did I find this out...well, another former coworker, Isabel, who lives North of Denton received an email from a former student's parent who asked if it was true that I had past away. Isabel, laughed and said I was perfectly healthly! (whatever that was suppose to mean)

What that heck, am I just the talk of the town or do they just want to see me dead? Fortunately or unfortunately I am still kicking!!

Moral of the story: don't keep in touch with your former students' parents...leads to rumors!!

Visita de 'Impacto'

Mi amiguita, Satcha, was in the metroplex for few hours today. She had a layover at DFW on her way to our dear alma mater Angelo State University for a journalism conference. JG and I were fortunate to visit with her over a late lunch, estilo mexicanp- de ricos tacos al pastor, tamales, y un sope. It was a pleasure to see Satcha despite the short time.

I met Satcha during my early days at ASU many moons ago. Wow, has it been 9 years already?

You know, I was dying to tell my all students that I was going to see Satcha for a couple of hours, but i knew it would cause and uproar...I didn't want to hear suggestions, which my children are ever so generously giving them. I could just hear them...
"Why doesn't she come see us?" Por que no viene?
"Can we go too, like a field trip?" Usted nos puede llevar?
"Did you say she enjoys reading to children?"
No me conteni del secreto...le dije a una niña. She wrote a note for Satcha during recess, which by the way I forgot on my desk...I hope my student did not notice I left it!

Bree's baptism

It's such an honor to be chosen to be a godmother. It is an awesome responsibility and feeling! As we go through our journey in life, we are here to help guide the child of God to become a faithful and practicing Catholic. I honestly believe that her parents will have no problem with teaching Bree to be a wonderful Christian. But just in case they slack off, we are here to help!

Isaiah's baptism

Congratulations Isaiah!
Scott and Sonia, who currently live in Georgia, took this opportunity while visiting family in Texas to baptize their son Isaiah. I was fortunate to witness this special day with Sonia and her family. The last time I had visited with Sonia was during a business trip here in Texas in April of 2006.  It was great to finally meet Isaiah which will soon turn 1 year old!

A Prayer for Families

We bless your name, O Lord,
for sending your own incarnate Son,
to become part of a family,
so that, as he lived its life,
he would experience its worries and its joys.

We ask you, Lord,
to protect and watch over this family,
so that in the strength of your grace
its members may enjoy prosperity,
possess the priceless gift of your peace,
and, as the Church alive in the home,
bear witness in this world to your glory.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Paquito's Baptism

Welcoming Paquito into our Catholic Faith are Paco and Esme's family

Paquito doesn't like anybody other than mom and dad!!

Okay, He does like his Tio/Padrino Güero.

Getting ready for his special day, Baptismal Mass!

Little Dallas fan. but if he follows his dad's footsteps... soccer will be his game.
Meanwhile, he can wear football apparel.

I do have to say that being chosen is an honor. I was so excited and humbled when Paco and Esme sat me down to ask me if I wanted to be Paquito's madrina this past February.  I know it is a great responsibility to be a godparent. I'm happy to be a part of his life and hope I can help our child grow in faith.

Driving back to the metroplex from Colorado City
Sunday was a long drive with the slushy snow.

Dallas Cowboys Fan

Favorite Uncle D!!

Uncle D is a wonderful guy...but when the Cowboys play...he will ignore you if you are not talking Cowboys football...or tell you to be quite so he can hear the commentators.  I know he is extremely happy the Cowboys beat the Green Bay Packers! !

Thanksgiving

Wondering what these youngsters are doing? They're giving each other massages. Sandra is a massage therapist, but all wanted their share of a free massage after a great thanksgiving feast.

Mikaela and Conchita. Look at those cheeks and that jet black hair the little one has!
Those two beautiful girls belong to Mariquita and Luis.

This is Jacob, my cousin Isabel's youngest son.
Isn't he so cute. He is so sweet and he just loved me...
well, maybe he didn't say that but he didn't cry during the many times I held him.

I love thanksgiving! It happens to be one of my favorite holidays. As many of you all know, my mom side of the family gets together to eat Thanksgiving lunch. Of course, everyone contributes in some way or another. I still think my mom and Maria Auxilio do most of the work. The usually prepare a few unlucky turkeys and a couple of hams. My mom makes delicious dressing a day in advance and ready to pop in the oven on thanksgving. This year she also cooked 5 large trays of dressing for Thanksgiving dinner our church provides for people in our community.
Did I mention there were 86 people that attended our thanksgiving lunch? Not all showed up at the same time but most of us ate together. We also enjoyed the Cowboy game, played board games.
The day after thanksgiving we met again at the cafetera for delicioso caldo de res...cornbread, tortillas and any leftovers from the day before. That afternoon we had a gift exchange. We call it chinese gift exchange. I'm not sure if that is the right term to call it but it was fun.

Cross Country Meet

Beto

Julia

Early November the Acevedo cousins were in town. Roberto, a freshman, and Julia, senior qualified to run in the regional cross country meet that was held in Arlington.  Unfortunately, they didn't make it to the state meet but they did great! I only wish I had half of their endurance. Which reminds me of the shape I was when I was Julia's age...you see me now...who would have known.

Lubbock

Isa, Ruthie, and I at Llano Estacado winery. We had plenty of wine!!

Surprise!

I received a voicemail today at approximately 3:30 pm from Carmen. I thought she was in Arlington and wanted to meet at Starbucks or someplace?

Oh no, that wasn't the message...she said Bree decided to come early! I of course had to hear that message again...trying to make out the sweet words of an exciting new mother and dear friend. Sounding GREAT for a brave woman who had a natural birth without anything to help her with the pain! Yep, Bree came early!! Wow...a whopping month and 4 days early!

Okay, Saturday at Carmen's  baby shower I said I couldn't wait until she was born! Apparently, SHE couldn't wait either!

Congratulations to the new parents Carmen and Ian! God has blessed  you with a beautiful bundle of joy! I'm looking forward to watching her grow!

Oh yeah, she can call me tia, if she wants!

Brittany Amber

She wasn't always all smiles. I stole one there!
My mom is admiring the rosary that Fr. Mike gave to the family. The rosary was blessed by the Pope.

Almost two weeks ago, Brittany, my Goddaughter, was in an accident.

Last Saturday I had a chance to visit her in the hospital. She is doing extremely better. The doctors were expecting to send her to Cooks in Fort Worth earlier this week but fortunately she is recovering quickly and she didn't need to make that flight. Thanks to all the prayers and the support of family and friends have helped the family stay strong during this difficult time.

Great Seats

Where do you go and pay money for a seat and never sit in it?
Well, a concert!
I'm not really complaining...I'm just grateful! Antonio was kind enough to invite me to Mana's concert this past Friday! We had a wonderful time, singing along to most of the songs and we were impressed with the special effects on stage. Mana had a sold out house at the American Airline Center! Well, what do you expect from a band that is from GUADALAJARA, JALISCO MX? !!

Long time...

I guess you have been wondering why I have been absent from this blog world of many of you....well, I have better things to do! Kidding, I really don't know what to write about.

I will write soon!!
